Good overall condition for a 19th-century piece. There are slight signs of wear, some enamel crazing, and minor marks consistent with its manufacture and age. The enamel is well-preserved with a beautiful depth of color and a uniform patina.

Elegant gourd-shaped vase in glazed earthenware made by Eugène Victor Collinot , a figure of 19th-century French ceramics, around 1870 .
This flattened form, directly inspired by Asian models, clearly illustrates the enthusiasm for Japonisme and Orientalism in French decorative arts during the Napoleon III period.

The vase is covered with a deep turquoise blue glaze , enlivened by subtle variations and a network of fine crackles, typical of Collinot's technical research. The decoration, delicately painted and highlighted with slightly raised outlines , depicts birds perched among flowering branches , a motif borrowed from Far Eastern iconography, treated with great finesse of drawing and a remarkable attention to detail.

Like Théodore Deck, Eugène Victor Collinot (1824–1889) is considered one of the great ceramists of his time. Deeply influenced by Asian and Oriental art, he invented and perfected the technique of cloisonné enamels in relief on earthenware , using an outline to structure the colors and enhance the decorative relief. His works were exhibited at the Universal Expositions in Paris and Vienna , where they met with significant critical acclaim.

The base features workshop marks and numbers , including the "EC Toujours" stamp, characteristic of Collinot & Cie productions.
