A glazed stoneware vase by Jean Maubrou (1900–1965), made in his workshop in Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye in the 1950s. This piece, with its elegant, curved form, displays subtle variations in mottled brown glaze, with a nuanced olive-green interior. The craftsmanship perfectly represents the artisanal tradition of Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye, a village emblematic of French ceramics.

Jean Maubrou, based in Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye, is one of the leading figures in mid-20th-century ceramics. Trained in the stoneware tradition, he perpetuates authentic techniques while exploring remarkable glaze effects, notably his copper-red stoneware with green and turquoise reflections. His workshop, briefly managed by Pierre Pigaglio between 1944 and 1946 before its acquisition by Georges Robin in 1958, contributed to the artistic vitality of the region alongside ceramists such as Jean Carriès, Albert Vallet, and Robert Deblander.
