Very good overall condition. The enamels are well preserved with a beautiful shine and deep colors. Slight signs of wear and natural patina on the gilt bronze, consistent with the age of the piece.

Antique vase in polychrome glazed ceramic, made around the 1910s by one of the great artistic ceramic manufacturers in Gouda, Zuid Holland PZH Gouda , also known as Plateelfabriek Zuid Holland .

This rare model with Suled decoration belongs to the very first productions of the factory. It predates the introduction of the official dating system implemented by PZH from 1918 onwards and can be attributed to around 1910, in accordance with the research documented in Phyllis Ritvo 's reference work on Gouda ceramics.

The piece features an elegant silhouette with a globular body and slender neck, adorned with a stylized floral design entirely hand-painted. The color palette, composed of deep blues, nuanced greens, and orangey-brown tones, evokes the colors of precious stones. The overall effect reflects a strong influence of Orientalism as well as the Jugendstil/Art Nouveau movement, characteristic of Gouda production in the early 20th century.

The vase is enhanced with a gilt bronze mount , comprising a finely fluted circular base and two foliate elements forming decorative handles at the neck, bringing a neoclassical touch and emphasizing the decorative character of the object.

The underside bears the name of the hand-painted decoration , as well as the signature known as “Lazarus house” , a mark of the Zuid Holland factory.
