Very good overall condition. Minor signs of age consistent with its age. Enamel very well preserved.

Art Deco vase from the 1930s made by Céramique La Charentaise in Angoulême , a workshop in the southwest of France, known for the quality and originality of its enamels.

This vase is made of stoneware and covered with a unique, textured glaze in warm brown, ivory, and olive green hues, revealing the clay body in many places. The thick, dynamic glaze creates a highly expressive, organic, and volcanic relief, characteristic of the material explorations undertaken between the two World Wars. The slender, balanced form, combined with this vibrant surface, firmly situates this piece within the French Art Deco aesthetic.

La Charentaise ceramics was founded in 1923 by Chapon, Taffet, and Condamine (Taffet's son-in-law), all three former associates of Renoleau. The Taffet family had been established in Angoulême as ceramicists since the 19th century. By 1927, La Charentaise was recognized as Renoleau's main competitor and most important imitator , developing a production of decorative stoneware with textured glazes that is now prized by collectors.

A strong and authentic decorative piece, ideal for an Art Deco ceramics collection or a characterful interior decoration.
