Good overall condition. Minor chips on the lower edge of the base (visible in photos). No cracks. Glaze in good condition, with natural irregularities due to its handcrafted nature.

Hand-thrown stoneware pitcher from the workshop of Pierre Digan (1941-2016) , an essential figure in the revival of stoneware in La Borne . Trained by Michel Lucotte and then passing through Vallauris and various workshops in the South of France, he settled in La Borne in 1960 where he developed a modern and understated utilitarian production.
His workshop “Digan Grès” played a major role in the dissemination of French stoneware as well as in the training of many ceramists who became leading figures in the field.

This pitcher has a body made of raw brown stoneware , topped with a light beige glaze that extends slightly down the shoulder. The handle, crafted with relief details, clearly reflects the workshop's style.
The piece is signed with the Digan workshop stamp near the base.

A fine example of 20th century utilitarian pottery, authentic, robust and typical of La Borne.
