Jacques Pouchain (1925-2015) left Paris and abandoned his architectural training in the 1950s for the South of France in order to devote himself to art and his pottery workshop in Dieulefit.

He produced both highly personal works and more commercial pieces, both revealing a modern approach to pottery.

J. Pouchain was particularly known for his minimalist and functional style, which drew inspiration from simple geometric shapes and industrial materials. He won several awards for his designs, including the City of Paris Design Prize in 1988.

Pouchain's ceramics enjoy international renown and have been sold in several major auction houses.
