Large hammered pewter vase, signed René Delavan , made in the 1930s in Paris.
Its slender, symmetrical silhouette, flanked by two ribbed handles , perfectly embodies the Art Deco aesthetic: balance, geometric rigor, and modernity. The surface is entirely hand-hammered, a characteristic of the craftsmanship of French metalworkers of that era.

René Delavan (1896–1958) , a Parisian goldsmith and jeweler, is among the leading French designers of the Art Deco movement, alongside Jean Després and L. Guilbaud . From the 1920s onward, he distinguished himself with his innovative silverware and decorative objects—tea and coffee services, trays, vases, and boxes—crafted in his Parisian workshops. His hammered metalwork and modernist lines made him a sought-after designer among international collectors.

The vase shown bears the engraved signature “R. Delavan” and the “Étain Garanti” stamp under the base.
