Large glazed ceramic dish in a deep green, made by the ceramist Étienne Noël in Dieulefit, France, circa 1936-1939 according to the round underglaze mark . The glossy glaze oscillates between olive green tones and darker reflections, with a depth effect characteristic of Noël's pieces.

Étienne Noël (1905-1988) was a French painter and ceramicist who settled in Dieulefit in the 1930s. Trained in the visual arts, he turned to ceramics, exploring glazes and textural effects while maintaining a painterly approach in his designs. His work lies at the crossroads of painting and ceramics, balancing the pursuit of color with the simplicity of form. Active until the 1960s, he contributed to making Dieulefit a major center of 20th-century French ceramics.

The piece has a charming patina and a beautiful decorative appearance.
