Large decorative platter signed Georges Gehel, Paris , dating from the 1970s .
This glazed ceramic piece features a vibrant design of stylized fish in bold colors (red, cobalt blue, and olive green with white polka dots), framed by red geometric patterns on a speckled, stoneware- like background. The contrast between the glossy glaze and the granite-like surface creates a relief and texture characteristic of 1970s aesthetics.
Georges Gehel , a ceramic artist who established his studio in Meudon in 1960 , distinguished himself through his creations with their unique and colorful designs. He also trained several young artists, including Brigitte Pénicaud , in the 1970s, helping to pass on his expertise and his taste for artistic experimentation.
