Very good overall condition. Beautiful natural silver patina, minor signs of wear consistent with age. Note: one of the stones is slightly dented. See photos for details.

Large Navajo cross pendant made in the 1990s by Brenda Barbone , also known as Brenda Jimenez , for Nakai Trading Company .
This remarkable piece is crafted entirely from 925 sterling silver and set with multiple cabochons of natural red coral, arranged in a dense and balanced composition across the entire surface of the cross.

Brenda Barbone belongs to the Bitter Water clan of the Navajo Nation. Raised in Smith Lake, New Mexico , she learned traditional goldsmithing from her mother, Lorraine Barbone , at a very young age and began creating jewelry at 11. Her work is recognized for its respect for Navajo design principles, combining simple settings, granulation, organic motifs, and carefully selected stones.

The design of this cross perfectly reflects his approach: a powerful and harmonious aesthetic, where red coral adds depth and symbolism, while the worked silver emphasizes the sacred form of the cross. The wide bail, engraved with traditional geometric patterns, allows it to be worn on a chain or thick torque.

The reverse is hallmarked “BB STERLING” and “NAKAI”. A distinctive, spiritual, and sculptural piece, ideal for a Native American jewelry collection or as a large pendant.
