Cloisonné plique à jour enamel cup on gilt metal, made in China around 1900.
This delicate plique-à-jour work — a translucent enamel technique without a metallic background, comparable to a miniature stained-glass window — reveals a charming polychrome floral decoration in shades of green, pink, blue and white, encircled by golden filigree.
The base and sides feature a scale pattern that enhances the transparency and brilliance of the enamels.
A fine example of the refined craftsmanship of Chinese artisans at the end of the Qing dynasty.
