Very good overall condition. There are some enamel cracks, micro-impurities, and slight marks related to firing and age, consistent with an antique, handcrafted piece. See photos for details.

Art Deco glazed ceramic bowl made by Raoul Lachenal in the 1920s. This piece has an organic shape with a deep turquoise glaze with fine crackles, and a stylized black graphic decoration, typical of the decorative research carried out by Lachenal during the interwar period.

The rhythmic rim and the small lateral protrusion integrated into the design give the dish a character that is both sculptural and functional. The reverse is hand-signed "Lachenal". A beautiful piece of French Art Deco ceramic, ideal as a trinket dish, decorative bowl, or collector's item.

Raoul Lachenal (1885–1956) came from a long line of Parisian ceramists. Trained from a young age by his father, Edmond Lachenal—a major figure in Art Nouveau ceramics and a former student of Théodore Deck—as well as by Émile Decœur, he presented his first work in 1904 at the Salon des Artistes Français. Settling in Boulogne in 1907, he developed a personal decorative style blending organic forms, Cubist influences, and rich glazes, notably the family's famous turquoise. His work achieved significant international success, particularly in the United States, and he also collaborated with the La Maîtrise workshop of Galeries Lafayette. After the Second World War, he returned to the family workshop in Châtillon, continuing a refined production emblematic of Art Deco ceramics.
