Antique brass and cloisonné enamel ashtray, made in China in the 1950s . Curved in shape reminiscent of a traditional Chinese shoe, it features finely executed cloisonné enameling on an imperial yellow background, adorned with polychrome flowers and symbolic motifs .
This type of cigarette case was part of mid-20th-century Chinese craftsmanship, combining gilded brass and colored enamel . The hinged brass lid allowed the cigarette to be extinguished and limited the spread of smoke.
