Dark brown glazed stoneware bowl, made by the Art-Céram Grand Feu pottery in the 1950s.
This model features an incised geometric design forming a diamond pattern across its entire surface. The scalloped, slightly gilded rim contrasts with the dark, satin-finish glaze. The interior reveals shades of brown and beige punctuated by firing effects.
The Art-Céram Grand Feu pottery workshop was founded in the Puisaye region by Michel Pointu (1925–20XX) and Denise Pointu-Detraz (born in 1927) . The son of potter Léon Pointu , Michel took over the family workshop before partnering with his wife, a former student of the Bourges School of Fine Arts. In 1951, they settled in Les Bouillons, Arquian , where they established the Art-Céram Grand Feu pottery workshop, which operated until the early 1960s.
Denise designs functional forms and also creates unique art pieces—vases, bowls, and sculptures in hand-modeled stoneware, including Christs and Virgins. Their work is fully in keeping with the Puisaye stoneware tradition, combining robustness, deep glazes, and modern lines.
