Historical Context:
The Cérans-Foulletourte pottery tradition dates back to the Middle Ages, closely linked to the pottery production in Ligron, just under ten kilometers away. The potters from these two villages shared strong connections, and their craft flourished throughout Western France.
Cérans-Foulletourte (Sarthe), near Malicorne, was an important production center, especially for horticultural and functional pottery, which remained active until the 1960s. In the 1930s, Prudence Drouard took over the Foulletourte factory, skillfully adapting her productions to the evolving artistic trends of the time. She signed her works with her stylized monogram "P D."
