Elegant black Limoges porcelain vase by Camille Tharaud, famous for his mastery of the technique of dough on dough , here illustrated by a delicate frieze of putti (cherubs) in matte white relief on a satin black background. This rare technique requires manually superimposing layers of porcelain to achieve a refined sculptural effect.
This model is typical of Tharaud's production in the 1930s , combining classicism inspired by neoclassicalism and modernist lines. The flared neck, highlighted with a gold thread, completes the harmonious silhouette of the vase. The base bears the marks "THARAUD LIMOGES FRANCE".
